#PublicHealthIsLocal: Engaging Your Member of Congress During August Recess

With significant funding and policy changes being considered in Washington, DC that will impact communities around the country, it is now more important than ever for your federal elected officials to hear from you to better understand the work that local health departments do in their districts. Every year, Congress makes critical decisions on policies and funding that impact local health departments. NACCHO is encouraging members to meet with legislators in-state and in-district during August recess. This is a great opportunity to educate them on the ways that recent and proposed changes are impacting local public health services in the communities that they represent.
